Energy Summit 2022 - Attendees
PARKING: Parking passes are required to park on campus, unless you are driving a state vehicle. Participants will receive a parking pass, if needed, at conference check-in. Parking passes will be good for any surface lot on campus. Appalachian, like many campuses, has a number of construction projects underway. The best lot for residential Summit participants is the Blue Ridge Parking Deck located at 185 Stadium Heights Drive. The best lot for commuter Summit participants is Peacock Lot (located off of Rivers Street).

CONFERENCE CHECK-IN: Conference check-in (name badge pickup) is separate from campus housing check-in. All registrants can pick up badges from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, on the 4th floor of Plemmons Student Union (263 Locust Street). Badge pick up will also be available in the Valborg Theater between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Please wear your name badges to all events to ensure admission.
OPENING RECEPTION: The opening reception on Wednesday will be located in the Grandview Ballroom (4th floor on the North End Zone facility at Kidd Brewer Stadium: 425 Jack Branch Drive) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature live music by the Lazybirds.
OPENING PLENARY: Opening Plenary will be at the Valborg Theatre on Wednesday, June 8, starting at 7:30 p.m.
ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
RESIDENCE HALL: Appalachian Energy Summit participants will be staying in the newly constructed residence hall, Thunder Hill (228 Stadium Drive). Please note: this is a different hall than previous years. Thunder Hill Hall is located on the corner of Jack Branch Drive and Stadium Drive. To unload, please pull into the roundabout located behind Thunder Hill on Stadium Heights Drive. (From Rivers Street: turn onto Stadium Drive, then turn right onto Jack Branch Drive, then turn right onto Stadium Heights Drive, which you will follow to the end.) You may unload your belongings before moving your vehicle to the designated parking deck. A parking pass and directions to the appropriate parking deck will be given during check-in.
Linens will be provided; however, we recommend bringing a spare blanket. Basic toiletries will be available at check-in, but we recommend bringing your own toiletries to make your stay more comfortable and to support the Summit’s sustainability goals.
Thunder Hill is a suite-style hall. This means each participant will have their own room but will share a bathroom with another Energy Summit participant. Any participants wishing to share a suite should plan to check in together to ensure room availability.
A University Housing Conference Assistant will be on duty each evening from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The phone number for the Conference Assistant is 828-434-0438.
HOUSING CHECK-IN: Check-in will be Wednesday, June 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you are unable to make this check-in time, please call the Conference Assistant on duty at 828-434-0438.
