Energy Summit 2019 - Attendees

PARKING: Parking passes are required to park on campus – unless you are driving a state vehicle. Participants will receive a parking pass, if needed, at conference check-in. Parking passes will be good for any non-gated lot on campus. Appalachian, like many campuses, have a number of construction projects underway. The best lot for all Summit participants is the Greenwood Lot located just past the App House on Bodenheimer Drive. Shuttle service will be provided from Greenwood lot to Summit venues and back at the conclusion of activities.

CONFERENCE CHECK-IN: Conference check-in (name badge pickup) is separate from campus housing check-in. All registrants can pick up badges on Monday, July 29th in the Valborg Theatre between 1:30 and 5:00p.m. and between 7:00-8:00pm. Badge pick up is also available in the Plemmons Student Union 2nd floor between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00p.m. Tuesday. Please wear your name badges to all events to ensure admission.

OPENING SESSION: Opening Session will be at the Valborg Theatre on Monday starting at 2:30 p.m., July 29th.

KEYNOTE EVENT: The Keynote Event on Monday night at the Valborg Theatre starts at 7:30p.m. The Keynote features a talk by Amory Lovins from the Rocky Mountain Institute, followed by a panel discussion.

SHUTTLE SCHEDULE: Shuttles will be running a continuous loop from LLC to Greenwood Lot to Plemmons Student Union / Valborg Theatre during the following times:

  • July 29 – 1:15-3:15p.m. and 8:30-10:00p.m.
  • July 30 – 6:30-8:30a.m. and 5:00-7:00p.m.
  • July 31 – 6:30-8:30a.m.

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING

RESIDENCE HALL: Appalachian Energy Summit participants will be staying in the Living Learning Center (LLC). Please note: this is a different hall than previous years. Please drive down the driveway to the front of the building. Enter the doors and go down the steps to check into the residence hall. A parking pass and directions to the appropriate parking lot will be given during check-in. Name badges will be given during the opening session and keynote at Valborg Theatre.

Linens will be provided, however we recommend bringing a spare blanket. Please bring your own toiletries.

LLC is a suite-style hall. This means each participant will have his/her own room but will share a bathroom with another Energy Summit participant. Layout for the LLC can be found here.

A University Housing Conference Assistant will be on duty each evening from 7:00-11:00p.m.

HOUSING CHECK-IN: Check-in will be Monday, July 29, from 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m. or 7:00 -11:00p.m. If you are unable to make those check-in times, or are checking out Tuesday, please call the number listed on the door of LLC.

HOUSING CHECK-OUT: Wednesday, July 31, from 6:30-9:00a.m. If participants are participating in a campus tour, please check out before the tour leaves.

WEATHER: Weather in the mountains is always unpredictable. Make sure to bring a jacket for cooler evenings and an umbrella or rain jacket for unexpected rain. You can visit booneweather.com for a local forecast. Please bring comfortable walking shoes and dress for the event is business casual.
