Campus Energy Council
As part of its latest climate action plan, AppCAP 1.0: A Vision for Climate Neutrality, App State has formed a Campus Energy Council, which comprises university leaders in finance, sustainability, facility operations and energy. These leaders meet regularly to discuss large-scale energy solutions and determine how to fund them.
Campus Energy Council members:
- George Baldwin, executive director for corporate and foundation relations
- Dr. Lee Ball, chief sustainability officer
- Hank Foreman, vice chancellor of external affairs and strategic initiatives, chief of staff and secretary of the university
- Dr. Christine Hendren, director of the Research Institute for Environment, Energy, and Economics and professor in the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences
- Dr. Ece Karatan, vice provost of research
- Nick Katers, associate vice chancellor of facilities
- Ed Miller, general manger of New River Light and Power
- Jeff Pierce, director of planning, design and construction
- Jonathan Pierson, energy manager in Facilities Operations
- Dr. Jamie Russell, director of the Appalachian Energy Center and professor in the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment
