Don't Throw it Away - Drive Thru

April 28 - 30, 2021 / 12:00pm
East Hall Parking Lot

ACT and the Office of Sustainability are hosting a limited drive thru version of Don't Throw it Away this year in an effort to reduce waste and donate to local community partners during residential student move out. We are working with Community non-profits to collect gently used items that students do not plan to keep when they move out of their residence halls.

***Donations accepted between 12pm-5pm Wednesday 4/28, Thursday 4/29, and Friday 4/30***

To donate:

1. collect items you wish to donate - we only accept, clean, gently used items
2. bring them to the East Hall parking lot during the limited drop of days/times (walk through and drive thru available)
3. you will be instructed to unload your items and sort them into categories in the East Hall parking lot.
4. feel good about donating your items instead of throwing them in the trash.

COVID-19 Safety information

Limited donors will be allowed out of their vehicles at a time to ensure social distancing. The student who is donating will unload their own items and follow the instructions of ACT and Office of Sustainability staff to sort their items into the appropriate area under a series of 10x10 pop up tents.

After donation windows have closed each day, Community Partners will come pick up items (between 5-6:30pm) that have been collected for them. Community Partners will bring their own staff to pick up and load up their items and take care of unloading at their location. Limited community partners will be allowed out of their vehicles at a time to ensure social distancing during the pick up process. Community partners will only be on campus for the pick up window and will be instructed to drive up Locust Street, turn left into the East Hall lot and proceed off campus as soon as their pick up is complete.

Masks will be required of everyone at all times and gloves will be provided to all ACT and Sustainability staff who are monitoring the drop off and pick up of donated items.
